From the heart of the Army to the heart of Ohio! Tropicool is a family-owned escape bringing the authentic taste of Hawaiian-style shave ice to our local community. After 15 years of traveling the world, we’re proud to share our favorite icy treats with the neighbors we love.
After meeting and getting married, they spent the next 15 years traveling the world as Brian is in the Army. When stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, they were blessed with the opportunity to take over an existing Shave Ice Operation. After years of operations there, he was reassigned to work back in Ohio. Thus bringing this tasty dessert along with them. We are both thankful for each one of our customers and appreciate every visit.
Our ice is fluffy, our syrups are premium, and our vibes are purely tropical. From our 'Tropicool Style' signatures to our authentic Hawaiian-inspired Sno Cream toppings, we’re here to bring a little bit of the Big Island to Ohio.
At Tropicool, we believe the best treats start with the best ingredients. We use a high-performance shaving process to ensure every cup is filled with light, cloud-like snow—never crunchy or chunky. Our syrups are selected for their bold, authentic flavor, and we are committed to maintaining a clean, vibrant environment where every guest feels like they’ve stepped into a tropical getaway.
Quality: We are obsessed with texture. We never compromise on the "softness" of our shave ice or the richness of our premium toppings.
Service: Rooted in our 15 years of military service, we lead with integrity and a commitment to serving our community with a smile.
Innovation: From our secret-recipe Sno Cream to our creative "Specialty" combinations, we’re always finding new ways to make the traditional shave ice experience even better.
Aloha Spirit: We believe in fostering a sense of warmth and community, creating a welcoming "island" escape for neighbors and travelers alike.
This year, we are contributing to a scholarship fund for the high school
We intentionally hire a staff primarily made up of high school and college students. For many of these employees, Tropicool is their very first job. The Benges have stated that a major part of their mission is to mentor these young workers, teaching them business basics and professional skills in a supportive environment.
By purchasing and reopening the shop after it had been shuttered for nearly three years, the current owners saved a local landmark from permanent closure. Their investment in the building—including the vibrant pink and light blue paint and neon lights—was designed to bring a sense of joy and "vibrancy" back to the Lindenwald corner.
Tropicool often works alongside other Lindenwald businesses to support neighborhood-wide events, such as back-to-school drives or local festivals like Lindenwald Porchfest.
